The tracking tag
One line on every page of your site records a visit from a partner link as a hit and keeps it in the hitctrl cookie.
What it is
The tracking tag is one line of code. Settings › Tracking & safety › Tracking shows it at the top with a copy button. Put it inside head on every page of your site, landing pages included.
What it does
- A visitor arrives through a partner's link (the address has
linkIdandsourceId). - The tag reports the visit to HitCTRL, which checks the link and records a hit.
- The tag keeps the signed hit (a code starting with
h1.) in the visitor'shitctrlcookie. - When the visitor buys, your server sends that hit with the conversion, and the right partner gets it.
Good to know
- The tag names your workspace with its public key (
data-workspace="pk_…"), so it works on any domain. The public key is not a secret; the API key your server uses is. - Visits appear in Performance › Hits within seconds.
- Can't add a script, or want to count visits from your server? Use server-side hits.
- On a whitelabel's site the same tag works; the site's domain tells HitCTRL which whitelabel it is.
