Attribution: which partner gets the sale
The sale goes to the partner of the hit your server sends, within your windows; a coupon wins over a hit.
How a sale finds its partner
- A coupon code sent with the sale wins: the coupon's partner gets it.
- Otherwise the hit your server sends (from the
hitctrlcookie) decides. - Or a known client: a sale for a client you registered before counts for the partner of that client's hit.
The settings
In Settings › Tracking & safety › Tracking:
- Cookie lifetime: how long the visitor's browser remembers the partner. Applies to new hits.
- Attribution window: how long after a hit a conversion your server reports still counts, with or without the cookie. Older ones are refused (hit_expired).
- Which hit wins when a visitor came through links of several partners before converting:
- Last hit: the newest partner hit takes over.
- First hit: the first partner hit keeps the visitor until its window ends.
An offer can have its own settings. See Attribution for one offer.
Good to know
- Recurrence on the offer's goal decides how many conversions one hit may bring (once, limited, unlimited).
